Need Based Financial Assistance
A typical financial assistance award may include a combination of scholarships, federal grants, students loans, and a part-time employment opportunity. Although these components make up a typical package, individual components will vary with each student’s unique circumstances. Students are generally eligible to receive financial assistance for eight semesters. For students admitted to combined degree programs requiring more than four years of study, assistance will be extended beyond eight semesters.
Applying for Financial Assistance
To apply for financial assistance, you may submit either the College Scholarship Service (CSS) PROFILE or Washington University’s Family Financial Profile (FFP-EZ). The CSS-PROFILE, available on the Web at www.collegeboard.com and in your high school guidance office, collects information about you and asks you to list the colleges from which you are seeking financial assistance. Be sure to list Washington University, 6929, on the CSS code list. The FFP-EZ is available online at ffpez.wustl.edu. File the CSS-PROFILE or FFP-EZ, available early in the fall, as soon as is reasonable.
All financial assistance applicants must also apply for federal student aid by filing the FAFSA, available in high school guidance offices or online at www.fafsa.ed.gov. File the FAFSA on paper on the Web as soon after January 1, 2009 as possible. Our FAFSA code is 002520.
Noncustodial Parent’s Statement
If a financial assistance applicant’s natural parents are divorced or separated, the noncustodial parent must complete the Noncustodial Parent’s Statement in order for the student to be considered for financial assistance. The Washington University Noncustodial Parent’s Statement is available online at ncps.wustl.edu. If you have questions or would like to request a paper form, please contact Student Financial Services at (888) 547-6670 or (314) 935-5900.
