Washington University offers financial assistance to transfer students. You and your parents may send Student Financial Services any additional information, beyond that requested on the application, that will help us understand your financial situation more accurately.
Eligibility for financial assistance cannot be determined until all information is submitted. Please be sure that you meet the deadlines stated below. Late applications will be considered only if funds are available.
If you are admitted, and your financial assistance is complete, the financial assistance notification will be sent within 2 or 3 days of the decision notification. Be sure to keep copies of everything you send.

Grant Requirements
Every financial assistance applicant should apply for a federal Pell Grant; Missouri residents are required to apply for a Missouri State Grant. Both requirements are accomplished by filing all sections of the FAFSA by April 1, 2010.
IRS Income Tax Return
Federal regulations require colleges to verify information on the applications of a large percentage of financial assistance applicants. Therefore, we will need a signed, completed copy of your and your parents’ tax returns, according to the previously stated deadlines.
Keep in mind that an award based upon the FFP-EZ or PROFILE is a firm commitment as long as the information on which your award is based is consistent with the information on the FAFSA and federal tax returns. An adjustment will be made, and a revised award letter sent, only if there are substantial discrepancies in information.
Noncustodial Parent’s Statement
If a financial assistance applicant’s natural parents are divorced or separated, the noncustodial parent must complete a Noncustodial Parent’s Statement in order for the student to be considered for financial assistance. The Washington University Noncustodial Parent’s Statement is available online at ncps.wustl.edu. If you have questions or would like to request a paper form, please contact Student Financial Services.
Parent Information Requirements
All financial assistance applicants (even those who are technically independent) are required to have their parents provide all parent information requested on the FFP-EZ or PROFILE. Applicants who feel that their circumstances require special consideration should contact Student Financial Services.
Financial Assistance Renewal
Undergraduate students are eligible for eight semesters (four years) of undergraduate financial assistance. Eligibility for transfer students is determined by the level at which the student enters Washington University. For example, a student who transfers to Washington University as a first-semester junior is eligible for a maximum of four semesters of assistance. To be eligible for renewal of financial assistance, students must continue to demonstrate financial need and maintain a satisfactory academic record.
