Scholarships for Transfer Students 

The deadline to apply for transfer admission for fall 2012 (beginning August 2012) was March 15, 2012.

Elizabeth Gray Danforth Scholarship

The Washington University Women’s Society sponsors annually a two-year, full-tuition scholarship to one student transferring from the St. Louis Community College system. You will be considered for this scholarship if:

  • Danforth University Centeryou submit a complete application for transfer admission in 2012 to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions no later than March 15, 2012.
  • you have a record of high academic achievement,
  • you are in the process of completing 60 transferable credit hours from one of the St. Louis Community College branches,
  • you are applying to enroll at Washington University full time beginning in the fall semester, and
  • you have financial need.

In late March or early April of each year, the scholarship committee will interview finalists and also consider the following:

  • level of commitment to academic achievement,
  • enthusiasm for learning,
  • clarity of goals—short- and long-term,
  • potential for leadership, and
  • dedication to community service.

Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship

Washington University annually awards a limited number of renewable scholarships to members of the Phi Theta Kappa (International Honorary of the Two Year College) transferring from two-year institutions.

The requirements for applying for the scholarship are as follows:

  • completed application for the Washington University Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship,
  • documented membership in Phi Theta Kappa,
  • completed two-year college program in the semester previous to the semester of entry at Washington University,
  • minimum GPA 3.5,
  • no previous bachelor’s degree,
  • completed Washington University application for transfer admission,
  • completed Washington University Family Financial Profile (FFP),
  • completed FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Financial Aid), and
  • demonstrated financial need based on the above forms

To be considered, all materials must be submitted no later than October 15, 2011 for spring 2012 applicants and no later than March 15, 2012 for fall 2012 applicants.
