expand Do I have a better chance of being admitted if I visit campus?
When reviewing your application, we will look for signs of interest in Washington University. So a visit to campus is one way to let us know that you are really interested in Washington U. A campus visit is also one of the best ways to see what a great community we have here, and it can help you make your decision if you are offered admission. We do realize, of course, that many students are unable to visit until the end of their senior year of high school. Applicants to Washington University who have not yet visited are given full consideration.
expand Can visitors sit in on classes?
Yes, visitors are welcome to sit in on a variety of classes during the fall and spring semesters. The Office of Undergraduate Admissions provides a comprehensive list of classes that visitors may attend. Our professors enjoy having visitors in their classes.
expand Can visitors meet with a professor?
Yes, campus visits to Washington University can be customized to include a meeting with a professor. Please let us know you would like to schedule an appointment with a professor when you call our campus visit coordinators or submit our online campus visit scheduler form.
expand Are interviews required?
Although we encourage you to visit campus and have an interview during your visit, Washington University does not require interviews as part of the admission application process. If you would like to have an interview with a Washington University representative, the Office of Undergraduate Admissions will try its best to accommodate the request.

In addition to on-campus interviews, we offer interviews with Washington U. alumni across the country and in selected cities overseas through our Alumni and Parent Admission Program (APAP).

Because of students’ interest in interviews, we are only able to offer each student one interview, so if you have an APAP interview, we will not be able to offer you an on-campus interview, and vice versa.
expand What is the purpose of the interview?
We see an interview as an exchange of information between two persons that allows each to get to know the other better. Interviews allow us to learn more about you beyond your transcripts and test scores. At the same time, you can further explore Washington University and the unique opportunities we offer our undergraduate students.
expand How do I schedule an interview?
Interviews can be scheduled in one of two ways. If you are planning a visit to Washington University, you can request that an interview be part of your campus visit experience by calling our visit coordinators at (800) 638-0700 or (314) 935-6000 or submitting our online campus visit scheduler form.

An interview with a Washington University graduate in a student’s home region may be an option for those who cannot travel to campus. Alumni interviews are offered through Washington University’s Alumni and Parents Admission Program (APAP) office to students who have submitted an undergraduate admission application (at least our Pre-Application Data Sheet/Supplement and the application fee) and who live in an area where an APAP member resides. Unfortunately, alumni interviews are not available in all areas. APAP can be reached at (800) 935-4826 or (314) 935-4826. APAP Interviews are offered on a first-come, first-served basis. This means the earlier you submit your Pre-Application Data Sheet/Supplement and application fee, the better chance you will have of being offered an APAP interview.
expand How do I dress for my interview?
Washington University interviews are casual, so please dress as you are most comfortable. Most interviewers will be dressed in business-casual attire.
expand Do I need to bring anything with me to my interview (i.e., resume, transcript)?
There is no need to bring anything to your interview. The focus of the interview is the conversation that you will have with a member of the Washington University community. If you would like additional material to be included in your application, please feel free to mail it to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.
expand When is the interview deadline?
On-campus interviews end in February for current high school seniors. APAP members interview applicants between September 1 and January 15.
