Undergraduate Admissions

For Counselors

Dear Counselors,

Thank you for being our partners when it comes to finding the best educational opportunities for students! We rely on you to send students our way who will thrive in our university culture and excel with our academic rigor. We know that requires you to get to know us, and we appreciate you taking that time. We typically offer two Counselor Visit Weekends per year, but we invite you to visit us at any time, so you can talk personally with faculty, staff, and current students, and tour our magnificent campus and state-of-the-art facilities.

I hope the resources below will help you and your students. Please don’t hesitate to give us a call or send us a note at any time with questions or concerns.

Warm regards,

Ronné Patrick Turner

Philosophy and Evaluation

Admission to Washington University is both selective and competitive. Students who enroll here have challenged themselves academically and personally throughout their high school years. They have taken a rigorous course load in high school, complemented by extracurricular activities, community service, and work experience. We highly value your recommendations and referrals!

Visit Programs

  • Counselor Visit Weekends: Washington University periodically invites high school college counselors to campus for three days and two nights, at our expense. During the visit, counselors are introduced to the people and places that make WashU unique and are given the opportunity to learn more about our academic offerings and how we select each year’s entering class. If you would like to be invited to our Counselor Visit Weekend, please contact the admissions officer who works with your high school, or email us at admissions@wustl.edu. Please include your name, title, and your high school in the body of the email and the representative for your area will be in touch.
  • High School Visits: Our admissions officers travel in fall and spring around the country and world hosting information sessions and visiting high schools. These high school visits are generally scheduled months in advance. If you would like a rep to visit your campus, or if you would like to be notified of local information sessions in your area, please email us at admissions@wustl.edu. Please include your name, title, and your high school in the body of the email and the representative for your area will be in touch.
  • Hotels Near Campus
  • Travel Grants: A limited number of travel grants are available each fall to prospective students and each spring to admitted students. All travel is provided to the student for a travel grant visit, and that student is given the opportunity for a personal interview as well as the chance to visit classes, attend an admissions information session, and a campus tour. If you know of a student who would benefit from a travel grant visit, you may refer that student or encourage the student to call our office and request a travel grant.
