Summer Internship Program

Overview

The Summer Internship Program in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions provides a paid professional experience for Washington University students to assist with daily campus visits and gain exposure to the various functions of admissions at a highly selective institution. The internship provides a mix of core responsibilities with campus visitors and project work with specific teams within the office.

Core responsibilities include:

  • Leading campus tours
  • Interviewing prospective students
  • Event support for special visit days
  • Assisting with office work as needed

Team responsibilities:

  • After rotating through each team to gain preliminary insight, interns will be paired with one team for project-based work
  • Available team pairings include: Recruitment, Access & Inclusion, Visit Experience, Financial Aid, Marketing/Communications, Administration/Systems, Research/Data Analysis
  • Interviewing prospective students
  • Interns will spend 8 weeks with a specific team gaining insight into daily operations & completing at least one long-term project

Qualifications

  • WashU Class of 2019, 2020, 2021, or 2022 with any academic background
  • Good academic & judicial standing with the university
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Enthusiasm about the university and what it offers prospective students
  • Interest in exploring higher education as a potential career field

Details

The internship will run between Wednesday, May 22nd and Saturday, August 17th, with the option of extending the program through Saturday, August 24th. The position is full time (37.5 hours/week), including some Saturdays as necessary. Some vacation time is available.
