James W. Fitzgibbon Scholarship in Architecture
- Up to one full-tuition scholarship and up to five $10,000 scholarships
- Renewable annually, as long as the scholar is making satisfactory progress toward a degree.
The James W. Fitzgibbon Scholarship in Architecture recognizes outstanding academic performance and promise in the field of architecture. Washington University’s College of Architecture offers the scholarship to an entering first year student who plans to pursue the Bachelor of Science in Architecture or the Bachelor of Arts in Architecture.
We encourage you to apply if you have demonstrated outstanding scholastic potential for a professional career in architecture and are able to present evidence of your creative ability through a portfolio.
Eligibility
Each College of Architecture applicant who submits a digital portfolio will be considered. No separate scholarship application is required.
Interviews for Finalists
Finalists are notified by the end of February. We will conduct virtual interviews with finalists. Finalists must attend the virtual interview to remain eligible.
To apply
- Select the College of Architecture as the Academic Division on your application for admission to the Class of 2027.
- Submit a digital portfolio consisting of 10-20 pieces of recent work. The portfolio may include freehand drawings, paintings, sculptures, architectural design models and drawings, ceramics, etc. While you may include examples of drafting and CAD, we will place emphasis on projects that show a range of creative and spatial thinking.

All applications must be submitted by January 4, 2023.
